On Thursday, Teri was out in the front garden and spotted the little bird perched on the edge of the raised garden bed nearest the house. It seemed odd that he didn’t fly away and only sat there. It didn’t occur to her immediately that this was the same little bird from the prior day, but soon she came to understand that the little bird was unable to fly.
One of his favorite places to watch the world was from this rocking chair on our front porch. We were thankful that all of the neighborhood cats were either remaining indoors or with their owners elsewhere. A few years earlier we'd observed an injured robin in the backyard for several days before finding only a pile of feathers from an assumed encounter with a cat or raccoon.
